Mircea Monroe
Monroe was born in St. Louis, Missouri. As a child, she lived in the South Pacific islands of Fiji and the Solomon Islands. According to Monroe, her first name Mircea, given to boys in Romania, was chosen by her father as an homage to his favorite professor, Mircea Eliade, at the University of Chicago, where he studied History of the Religions under the famous historian.
